The Queer Alternative South Coast region stretches from Cornwall to Kent so there’s a lot happening in our region. On this page you will get to know some of our team of volunteers, find out how to get involved yourself and see a list of, continually developing, events where you can meet other queer alternatives.

Update your wardrobe, support your spring cleaning and raise funds for Queer Alternative
Queer Alternative are hosting an Alternative bring and buy at the Shooting Star from 12noon on Easter Saturday.
We will be selling donated alternative clothes and other good quality alternative items to raise much needed funds to support Queer Alternative make as much noise and go to as many Pride events as possible this year.
Come along and grab some absolute bargains.
We will accept donations in three categories
***Wow, this is an amazing/rare/nearly new item of high value***
These will sell at £10 each
**General decent second hand alternative clothes**
These will sell at £5
*Random alternative stuff that needs a new home*
These will sell at £1
Donations must be targeted towards alternative styles and lifestyles, clean, ready to sell and separated into appropriate categories.
Cash and Card will be accepted for alternative bring and buy items but the bar only accepts card.
Under 18s welcome but must be supervised
Food available (check out the Shooting Star menu, it’s fantastic)
Contact Andi-Kat for information about how to make donations. We will be collecting them before the event (collection points in Southampton and Portsmouth) and before 12noon on the day.
South Coast Prides 2024
Coming along to Pride is definitely one of the highlights of being in Queer Alternative if you like being loud and making a statement. Queer Alternative will have an official presence at these Prides.
If you want to help out you can email the Event Lead. We invite you to get involved on the day or to help with organising pre-Pride fundraisers or socials and post-Pride queer alternative after parties. All ideas welcome.
More information coming soon on how to sign up and reserve your space. Please note that participation in parades for some Pride events will have a registration cost and spaces may be limited.

Meet Ups
Being able to get together with like minded people is so important. We all need to make friends and build connections. If you’re looking to connect up with Queer Alternatives in your area then why not drop in on one of our meet ups. You can also email your local representative, from the list of emails above, to find out what’s planned locally or to start setting something up.
Queer Alternative makes space safe by being visible, by being proud to be our queer alternative selves in all spaces. Sometimes our meetups are in regular spaces – sat a table in a café or pub, other times we will be heading out to an alternative venue or event and offer you a friendly, welcoming group to connect with.
Just look for the Queer Alternative signs and people wearing our t-shirts. If you’d like to have a safe chat before turning up then email your host.
